Biographical Info

Sarah Welker received her master’s degree in vocal performance and pedagogy from Westminster Choir College in Princeton, NJ. In addition to her opera studies, Sarah researched the effects of the menstrual cycle on the female voice. She is currently a pre-med student at the University of Utah with a particular interest in laryngology and hopes to become a physician for professional voice users. Sarah also currently serves as the president of the American Red Cross Club at the University of Utah.

Sara conducted an Art-Science workshop about vocal performance and the physiology of the vocal cords. She had the students create their own “voice boxes” with straws and balloons, demonstrating the functionality of the vocal cords in the human body.
