Biographical Info

Graham Goodman is a biologist broadly interested in parasite ecology. While much is known about the immunology, biochemistry, and genetics associated with host-parasite interactions, far less is known about the host behaviors that may reduce or even prevent parasite infection. Graham’s research focuses on antiparasite behaviors such as grooming and parasite avoidance. To better understand the evolutionary importance of these behaviors, he conducts experiments in the field and in the lab and makes use of museum collections.

Graham received his B.A. from the University of Colorado, Boulder, and his Ph.D. from the University of Utah. Graham is currently teaching biology as a Visiting Assistant Professor at Hobart and William Smith Colleges in upstate New York.

Graham gave a Science Right Now! presentation about his research on domestic pigeon lice and the role that parasites play in their host species’ behaviors.
