Biographical Info

Cynthia Checketts is an undergraduate at the U of U studying Biology (environmental and organismal emphasis) and minoring in English. She loves working in the Nadkarni Lab, helping with (and even giving) STEM lectures, least chub and monarch butterfly conservation projects, and data analysis. Being involved with the STEMCAP program has given her new perspectives and motivation to make sure the science that she enjoys is accessible and enjoyable for everyone, particularly those who aren’t traditionally included or interested in science.

Cynthia and her colleagues from the Clark Planetarium led a four-part weekly robotics workshop at Girls Transition Center in which students used computer coding skills to program simple tasks into their robots in order to get them to accomplish certain tasks, such as hitting a ping pong ball into a cup.
