Biographical Info

Bhawika S. Lamichhane received her B.S. in Biochemistry from Idaho State University, did an internship at the National Institute of Genetics, Japan, and was a research associate at Santa Cruz Biotechnology before joining the University of Utah for her Ph.D. Her Ph.D. work focuses on understanding developmental hematopoiesis, the process by which all of the cells of blood lineage form in vertebrates. Her dissertation explores how immune cells such as macrophages and neutrophils function during infection and wounding. Besides research, Bhawika enjoys the outdoors, loves photography, and is recently getting into snowboarding and painting. She also loves to indulge in podcasts, documentaries, and non-fiction books.

Bhawika presented a Science Right Now! talk on her research on Zebra Fish and the immune system.
