Biographical Info

Austin Green received his Ph.D. in Biodiversity and Conservation Ecology through the University of Utah. Through his organization, the Wasatch Wildlife Watch, Austin leverages both community involvement and passive cameras (aka camera traps) to investigate the effects of human influence on animal distribution and behavior. With conservation and land management decisions becoming increasingly democratized, Austin firmly believes it is essential to have both public and stakeholder interest group support for science-based management decisions. One of the best ways to do that is with community involvement in science. When not working, Austin enjoys watching baseball, playing golf, hiking, camping, and spending time with his friends and family.

Austin has presented multiple times with STEMCAP. He has also led citizen scientist teacher development training. His presentation focuses on his study of wildlife in the Wasatch Mountain Range and the importance of and threats to biodiversity.
